Workshop 2 - Courtney (righet) and Lubi discussing the brief

about: site::unseen

site::unseen is the 10th in a series of Living City events connecting young Queenslanders to their urban heritage and future. Fortitude Valley is a vibrant and diverse precinct that accommodates many possibilities for imaginative urban development. Kemp Place Park is a marginalised space within this area. Site::unseen, through the support of the Q150 program, attempts to create innovative design solutions in the park that recognise its past uses and its context in a precinct of growth and change.

site::unseen : the project

Under the Q150 grants program in 2008/2009, Living City's project teams have been asked to develop ideas for public art / design works for Kemp Place Park in Fortitude Valley. The ideas developed in the 2008 workshop process have been documented and formulated into a brief for artists / designers, to generate concepts for the site under the direction of curator, Lubi Thomas and the planning team.

The student participants in the LC2009 workshops have been responsible for distilling their ideas from last year into clear generators for ensuing artistic / design interpretation and eventual 'product' which will be installed on the site by the end of September 2009. The students have, and will continue, to provide their feedback into the design / art generation process, with all work contributed by artists / designers presented to them via workshop presentations or the blogs on this web site. All participants have the capacity to provide reflection and creative and critical contributions to this process to ensure final works installed on-site manifest their creative thinking from last year and in the current LC program.
