I really like this idea. Last year in my group this was actually the idea we had. We had a series of poles that were over linking and we weved a scheet of coloured material through it. This idea is good and how you have made a silver wave go over the poles.
Nice idea. Good Job!
The red poles are certainly reminiscent of the colour of Chinatown and the arrangement celebratory and processional in nature.
This arrangement provides a potential visual link to the park from neighbouring roadways - attracting attention - while at the pedestrian scale, it creates some sense of enclosure and definition of spaces within the park. I'm not sure of the orientation, but this can be explored further using a plan of the park (when it becomes available) or overlayed over an aerial photograph.
In the top sketch, the random nature of the poles and and their vertical angles reminds me of the wall that the Purple Team came up with last year. Check out their gallery in '2008' and the gallery, 'in the studio - interaction LC2008'.
In Adrian's preliminary ideas gallery, the poles have been explored in a number of different ways. The 'visual' passage that they create in the site is particularly strong to pedestrian users of the park. Adding sound elements allows for some interection, but the way in that they are presented, also strongly evokes 'festivity' in their form and colour.
All in all, the suggested elements make a strong statement in the park and invite attention and an altered perception of the site.
It would be good to hear from some of the students who have registered to use the blogs!!!!!!
