A Successful Launch

The launch yetsterday went off without too many hitches.

Project completion and the launch event is tomorrow!

Just a reminder that the park works at Kemp Place will be officially "launched" tomorrow at 2.00 (09 October, 2009).
We hope that all of the student participants from Living City workshops in 2008 and 2009 will be attending.

Below are some pics of the installed artworks - taken by Sebastian Moody, Simone Eisler and Mt Nebo Stuidios.

  • Progress - final bits and pieces

The artwork has been completed, with Simone adding some 'morphed' figures to her Swamp Forms yesterday (Monday, 15 September).

Brisbane City Parks started work on the landscaping yesterday, cultivating some of the existing garden areas and bringing in topsoil.
This morning Genevieve and I met with the planting guys from Parks to assist in setting where the plants would go.

    Work up!

The work is up and I'm felling very happy indeed. The installation day went very well. The vinyl stencil was cut and ready to go, however I did change the height and space between the two lines slightly on the day.

    Think Bigger All Done

Sebastian's text work , Think Bigger, is now complete after having an ant-graffiti finish placed over it. See pic below.

Adrian's Red Sticks have now been installed and painted - view the gallery - Red Sticks painted.

    'Swamp Forms' Installed

Simone's 'Swamp Forms' were installed on-site on Monday, 7th September.

An exhausting day for all involved, but the work looks great.

    Installation Begins

Footings have been dug for Adrian's and Simone's works and concrete has just been poured.

Simone has five very odd looking pieces of pipe coming out of her concrete footings near McLachlan Street. Adrian, on the other hand, has twenty or so steel poles emerging from his footings.

    Installation day

Well after quite a long build up, after all the workshops, site visits and presentations the day the work is installed is finally here. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous. It is such a great space, I hope the work can carry it off. It is a beautiful Brisbane day and I'm really looking forward to working with the guys to get the job done.

Artwork Progess - Adrian's 'Red Sticks'

Adrian has his 'sticks' laid out in his studio, but they aren't red yet. The steel poles have sealed bases and caps so that moisture and weather don't get inside. Some pics are below to give you an idea of what he is dealing with. Heavy metal!

Excavations for footings will be conducted on-site on Monday, 31st August.

Artwork Progress - Simone's Swamp Forms

Simone has sent through some photos of her progress and you can really see how the Swamp Forms are beginning to take shape.
